Wastesavers is a social enterprise organisation working in partnership with Newport City Council. As well as delivering professional services, they develop activities that raise awareness and encourage participation in reuse and recycling, throughout all sections of the community.
In 2006, Wastesavers contracted Novelis Recycling to take care of the collection and recycling of the Used Beverage Can (UBC) component of the organisation; a hugely successful partnership which continues to flourish today. Novelis Recycling prides itself on a collaborative approach, training and supporting partners in the supply of high-quality UBC’s. Wastesavers, in turn, dedicates time and resource to informing the general public and local business community about the optimum way to supply their waste for recycling. Within their Newport facility, an Eddy Current Separator is in operation, whereby a rotor with magnetic blocks selects aluminium from the conveyor belt into a baler, separating it from steel cans and contaminating plastics. Wastesaver’s public education initiative and stringent processes have recently been acknowledged by Novelis Recycling, who have awarded the organisation with the Novelis Quality Award, in recognition of their consistent supply of high-quality aluminium.
“We have developed an excellent working relationship with Novelis Recycling over the years and greatly value the support and advice we receive in relation to best practice for the supply of aluminium cans. This, coupled with a personal service, excellent market prices and ease of supply make Novelis Recycling our supplier of choice.”
