Following the UK national elections on July 4th, the newly elected Labour Member of Parliament (MP) for Warrington South (Latchford area) toured the Novelis Latchford Recycling Centre. MP Sarah Hall joined Plant Manager Allan Sweeney and Senior Manager for Government Affairs Andy Doran on a tour of the facility and in a discussion on local issues and upcoming investments and decarbonisation projects.  The visit was also a good opportunity to discuss Novelis’ policy priorities within the UK, including alignment with the EU on carbon border taxation and deposit return schemes.

Commenting on the visit, Allan Sweeney stated, “We were both impressed that MP Hall chose to visit us during her first week in office and that she so quickly understood and offered support for our short-term plans.  With the great opportunity of our UBC recycling investment ahead of us, along with job growth in the region and our hydrogen demonstration later this year, it is great to know that our locally elected politician knows our business and is prepared to support us in local community engagement and national priorities.”
