Novelis Recycling join in celebrations marking the achievements of the community recycling sector at the CRNS Celebration Event and Annual Awards, held in Glasgow.
Novelis Recycling joined members of the Scottish community recycling sector to celebrate the on-going success and achievements of the sector at a celebration event organised by the Community Recycling Network for Scotland, and to present the first CRNS Member of the Year Award.
Established two years ago, the Community Recycling Network for Scotland represents over 100 Scottish community-based recycling groups. The Member of the Year Award acknowledged a "significant contribution to the community recycling sector in Scotland in the past year".
Winners FEAT Enterprises break down mattresses to sell on component parts to reprocessors. CRNS praised the group for "heading towards becoming a self-sustaining social enterprise business while taking the time to advise other community recyclers".
Congratulating the winners Novelis Recycling Commercial Manager Keith Guest added: 'The aluminium recycling industry has always worked closely with the community recycling sector, and we decided to sponsor this Award in recognition of the enormous contribution the sector has made to the UK's aluminium recycling infrastructure. Nowhere is this more true than in Scotland.'
Commenting on the awards, Community Recycling Network Scotland chair Matt Lewis said: "Both FEAT Enterprises and Spruce Carpets certainly demonstrate the best about community recycling. Not only are they both being innovative and dynamic in tackling difficult parts of the wastestream, they are also aiming to create local jobs and alleviate poverty in their respective communities.'
