NOVELIS RECYCLING ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW NATIONAL MANAGER

Novelis Recycling has announced the appointment of Andy Doran to the position of National Manager. He will join the company in April 2006.
Mr Doran will be responsible for developing and implementing Novelis' strategies to help drive aluminium packaging recycling performance in the UK to meet 2008 packaging recycling targets. He will also be actively involved in working with European aluminium recycling programmes.
His new appointment marks a return to aluminium can recycling for Mr Doran, who was one of the original employees in Novelis' first UK can collection operation established in the early 1990s alongside a ?28 million investment in Europe's only dedicated used beverage can recycling plant.
Mr Doran has extensive experience in recycling, waste management and sustainability, gained whilst working for the London Borough of Hillingdon and Surrey County Council. Whilst at Surrey CC he joined the executive of the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC), and held the post of Chair between 2003 / 2005. He joins Novelis from the waste strategy team at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) where he has been head of local authority waste performance.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Doran said: 'The aluminium packaging recycling industry in this country has made impressive progress in the past 15 years, and in so-doing has made a vital contribution to developing the UK's recycling infrastructure.
