Novelis Recycling has added three members to the network of cash for cans businesses it supports throughout the UK.
Leicester-based environmental charity Environ, Carlisle scrap metal merchant Mountelm Ltd and leading recycler of printers lithographic plate and inks J&G Environmental Ltd of Dorset join over 40 businesses now working with Novelis to provide cash for cans services.
As part of the Novelis Recycling Network the three new members will be able to link in to a range of marketing and business development support programmes developed by Novelis as part of its strategy to invest in the UK's aluminium packaging recycling infrastructure. Cash for cans is a core part of Novelis Recycling's strategy to grow the aluminium packaging recycling rate, as it allows collectors to benefit directly from their recycling efforts.
Environ operates a recycling centre where members of the public can take their empty aluminium drink cans and receive cash in return. In addition the charity also offers an office waste recycling scheme to over 250 businesses in the Leicestershire area, collecting aluminium drink cans, paper, cardboard, printer cartridges, plastics and mobile phones.
J & G Environmental Ltd has recently launched a dedicated recycling collection service for schools and businesses throughout Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. The company is also planning to open cash for cans buyback centre at its premises in Blandford Forum.
Family run metal merchants Mountelm Ltd have been operating for forty years and supplying Novelis with aluminium cans since the 1990s.
Novelis Recycling Marketing & Communications Manager Diana Caldwell says: 'These are three very different types of enterprise but all are playing a vital role in the UK's aluminium can recycling infrastructure. Their membership of the Novelis Recycling network will enable us to provide co-ordinated help for their business, including access to and help with media relations, promotional support and involvement in our education and consumer awareness programmes. Through our support for these businesses we're keen to help build upon the excellent work that they do.'
'Although the opportunities for recycling aluminium cans have expanded, thanks mainly to the growth of kerbside, cash for cans remains a key source of metal for Novelis, and it is important that we continue to invest in this method of collection.'
