Major recycling company joins the Novelis Recycling network

J&G Environmental Ltd. of Blandford Forum has recently started a 'cash for cans' service for schools and businesses, which will now receive additional support from an association with the world's largest recycler of aluminium drink cans, Novelis Recycling.

J & G have been supplying Novelis in Warrington with litho plates for recycling since 2003. They have recently expanded their recycling activities to include aluminium drink cans, for which collectors are paid cash. J&G have invested in a specially liveried van which offers collections to schools and businesses in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. The van has been liveried with logos designed by schoolchildren from Whitesheet Primary School in Zeals, as part of a competition.

Novelis Recycling (formerly Alcan Aluminium Can Recycling) works closely with collectors of aluminium packaging to support the development of the UK's collection infrastructure. As members of the Novelis Recycling Network J&G Environmental will be able to link in to a range of marketing and business development support programmes developed by Novelis as part of its strategy to invest in the UK's aluminium packaging recycling infrastructure; and in turn grow the country's aluminium can recycling rate.

The next stage of J&G's aluminium recycling programme will see the opening of a permanent 'buy back centre' at its Blandford Forum site, where members of the public will be able to recycle aluminium drink cans for cash.

At the signing ceremony Julie Armstrong, joint MD of J & G Environmental Ltd said: 'I am pleased that J & G are now members of the Novelis Recycling network. The marketing expertise and promotional support Novelis can offer the company should ensure the success of our new aluminium can recycling programme. We are looking forward to the launch of the 'Cash for Cans' buyback centre which will allow local residents and charities to cash in their aluminium cans. I am grateful to Alupro, (Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation) and Novelis Recycling who are both supporting this initiative.'

Terry Marks, Business Development Manager for Novelis Recycling said 'J & G's new collection scheme and 'Cash for Cans' centre will enable schools, businesses and local residents to benefit directly from recycling. Cash for Cans has been the cornerstone of the growth of aluminium packaging recycling in the UK over the last 15 years, and Novelis continues to actively support this sector of the collection infrastructure by working closely with a range of businesses offering the general public this opportunity. I'm delighted to welcome another business to the Novelis Recycling network.'
