Alcan Aluminium Can Recycling (AACR) held the first of two open days for Local Authorities this week (19th October) at the Used Beverage Can Recycling Plant in Warrington.
The event was organised as part of Alcan's support for 'the BIG recycle' and gave recycling and waste management officers the opportunity to meet the Alcan team, discuss current issues and find out more about new resources that Alcan is developing to support recycling at the local level. They also got the chance to see the recycling process at first hand, with a tour of Europe's only dedicated aluminium beverage can recycling plant.
AACR Business Development Manager Keith Guest said: 'The open day gave us a valuable insight into the issues faced by local authorities at all levels of their recycling operations - from collection frequency to consumer waste education. The feedback we've had is that the Recycling teams welcomed the opportunity to have one-to-one discussions about how we can work together to support their schemes.'
