Problems caused by plastics, plastic film, widgets & rubber

  • Affect the performance of processing machinery
  • All plastic and rubber materials represent a highly flammable fuel source and could cause serious fires. Plastics can clog the shredding machinery and reduce its efficiency.
  • Even in small amounts, plastic can raise the temperature in the decoater causing it to automatically shut down. Production stoppages caused when the decoater trips are one of the major sources of downtime and safety issues in our recycling process. Production cannot restart until the temperature has dropped sufficiently and the machinery has been manually checked.

Acceptance of widgets

Widgets are acceptable within the broad 'market mix' of aluminium UBCs (currently around 3%)

For other loads with high widget content, e.g. filler scrap, please contact the Business Development Team for advice.
